The Operations Manager oversees and coordinates day-to-day activities within the Testing and Commissioning Team for our upcoming railway infrastructure project. This critical role ensures the smooth implementation of the project, compliance with local rules and regulations, safety protocols, troubleshooting, and thorough documentation related to temporary operation activities. The temporary operation team manages the Transport System not only under normal operating conditions but also during testing, in a “worksite” context with interactions on a public site.
Main Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and execute testing and commissioning activities for various railway systems, including train dynamic testing, traction power, communications, signaling, depot equipment, SCADA, and MEP.
Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure a safe system during testing and commissioning stages.
Conduct inspections, document findings, and provide recommendations for improving railway system performance.
Troubleshoot issues and provide technical and operational support during testing and commissioning.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations specific to railway systems.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and reports related to testing and commissioning activities.
Safety and Operational Impact:
Lead accident investigations and safety training.
Develop temporary operations plans.
Manage procedures for work permits (PTW), railroad vehicle management, electrical isolations (Traction Power), communication, access, and safety updates.
Qualifications
Relevant educational background or certifications in railway systems or operations.
Proven experience in temporary operations during testing and commissioning within railway systems (10+ years).
Strong technical knowledge of applicable railway rules and standards (Canada).
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
