Job description

Netskrt is looking for talented, results-driven Test Engineer to join the Netskrt team. This hybrid position is located in downtown Vancouver.

We are a highly motivated team, dedicated to delivering products and services that improve the customer experience when accessing internet video at the edges of the network. We are developing a set of inter-related technologies targeting businesses that offer Wifi to their customers but which have limited bandwidth. You are a critical thinker; you are passionate about software quality and have excellent testing and problem-solving skills. You have great interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be very hands-on and work as part of the development team on day-to-day activities and tasks.
  • Creating, developing and implementing test plans and strategies.
  • Developing and automating tests for software/system validation.
  • Testing and verifying that software meets major functional, architectural and scalability requirements.
  • Detecting bugs and software defects.
  • Implementing and managing bug tracking system; logging, tracking and reporting on test progress through various cycles of development and testing.
  • Provide feedback to the development and product teams regarding quality, risk areas and improvements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software testing or similar role.
  • Deep understanding of QA, the uses and methods of software testing.
  • Excellent testing skills (designing test plans and test strategies, writing test cases, executing test cases, logging bugs, verifying bugs).
  • Experience with API testing using tools like Postman or RestAssured.
  • Experience using test management and bug tracking systems, e.g., TM4J, JIRA.
  • Experience developing and using automated testing tools, e.g., Selenium.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in testing/deploying large scale applications using development environments and tools such as Git, JIRA, Jenkins.
  • Experience working in an agile, fast-paced environment.
  • Wide knowledge in networking, security, database and cloud systems.
  • Experience with caching and CDN (content delivery network) technologies (Netflix, Amazon, Google, Limelight, Akamai, Fastly).
  • Data security (TLS/SSL and related ecosystems).
