Test Architect Job Description:

Candidates will be working with IT architects, dev manager, QAs, and BAs, presenting solutions at AVP level.

We need someone to provide expert advice, research, analysis, and design of Test Automation related strategies and test processes that are appropriate to the application, solution, project, and/or business unit. As part of this role, you'll develop & support automation testing framework and related activities mentioned below.

Here's some of what you may be asked to perform:

  1. Propose, define, set up and standardize the process for automation testing framework.
  2. Ability to work in partnership with development to ensure code is being built in such a way to optimize automation.
  3. Defines best practices in line with latest industry standards in automation development, maintenance, and management of test automation artifacts.
  4. Work with test engineers to design and develop a reusable architecture for test automation.
  5. Participates in test automation competency growth, R&D, and tools development.
  6. Mentoring and training other test automation engineers.
  7. Lead the effort to build new test framework and/or extend existing frameworks.
  8. Prepare and review reusable functions, improve robustness, re-usability, and maintainability of test scripts.
  9. Create automation framework that is structured to improve productivity.
  10. Provide practical approach to complex product testing (test case writing improvement, process and other areas that can eventually convert manual testing to automation).
  11. Be a proactive thinker to make use of current technologies to provide extensible automation infrastructures.
  12. Review product requirements, functional and design specifications to determine and prepare automation test cases.
  13. Work closely with agile team members to understand testing objectives and ensure problems are solved in a timely and efficient manner.
  14. Develop high-level documents to show automation coverage progress.
  15. Ensure automation software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, etc.
  16. Lead relationships with project, offshore, release teams, third-parties, and clients.
  17. Build, maintain test environments, monitor, troubleshoot, triage, resolve issues.
  18. Co-ordinate code deployments, maintenance upgrades, and project testing across numerous environments on various technology platforms.
  19. Be accountable for team following established testing processes, and will identify, assess, address, resolve and/or escalate, develop contingency plans as needed.
  20. Participate in test artifact audits, ensure requirements are met.
  21. Participate in gate reviews, manage testing activities and artifacts.
  22. Communicate, address scope changes that may impact testing in terms of timeline, costs, risks.
  23. Promptly identify, notify, escalate, monitor issues, recommend solutions.
  24. Coach colleagues and act as a reference for the requirements management life cycle.

Special requirements:

  1. 10+ years relevant experience.
  2. Comprehensive software engineering experience (Test Automation, Functional and non-functional testing and in-depth software development knowledge).
  3. Experience Designing test frameworks for test automation and testing in general.
  4. Skilled in open source test automation framework and tools.
  5. Ability to analyze, develop, debug, execute and maintain complex automated test cases.
  6. Exposure to development environment & tools.
  7. Experience with working knowledge in DevOps, Service Virtualization, Jenkins, Git, Jira, Python, Java, Web services etc.
  8. Readiness to serve as an advisor to management and team and provide expertise on leveraging testing assets and practices across TD Technology Solutions.
  9. Proficiency in developing test strategies for highly complex and multi-faceted projects.
  10. Ability to advise on testable software builds, test data/environment/configuration/defect management, test asset control.
  11. Talent in identifying risks both within and across projects and recommending ways to mitigate them.
  12. Strength at managing and directing activities related to analysis, design and support of technical business solutions on larger projects.
  13. Expert knowledge of QA methodology, best practices and processes while contributing to testing methods and tool selection direction.
  14. Strong knowledge in project financial management and reporting.
  15. Sound knowledge of external industry trends in relation to competency.
  16. Sound knowledge of business and/or delivery practices/disciplines.
  17. Knowledge of principles, practices and IT processes appropriate to quality delivery development and stewardship.
  18. Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate.
  19. Graduate Degree preferred.
