Summer Computer Technician
Temporary Assistant – approx. 40 hours/week; Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Horizon is seeking a service-oriented team player to join our Technology team in supporting approximately 500 staff and 3500 student users. The Summer Computer Technician will work as a supportive member of a team to ensure that secure and reliable information technology enables us to achieve our mission: Horizon is an inclusive learning community that engages and empowers all learners for success.
Duties of the Summer Technology Assistant include:
- Assisting the Tech Support Specialist in providing direct end user support for hardware and software solutions used in both administrative and instructional functions
- Assisting the Horizon Tech Team in promoting effective technology integration with educators at the school and system levels;
- Supporting the installation of new technology throughout the school division
- Repairing Chromebooks, cleaning technology, re-imaging machines;
- Assisting the Horizon IT Team to support multiple platforms and associated user account management (Windows/Active Directory, Apple, G-Suite/Google);
- Supporting the management of technology hardware inventory (imaging, cabling, etc.) and software upgrades
- Supporting the Technology department in the removal and disposal/recycling of technology equipment.
- Assisting in the implementation of technology initiatives and innovations as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has:
- Is working to complete a 2-year IT related diploma or Computer Science degree
- Experience working in a medium to large-scale organization;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Strong communication skills;
- Experience in customer/client service and/or helpdesk;
- The desire for continuous learning;
- Proven record of working under pressure within a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision;
- A focus on highly positive user experiences in a public education context.
Related industry certifications would be considered an asset.
This is a temporary, full-time position that will commence May 5th, 2025 or at a mutually agreeable date, ending August 29th, 2025.
