Hours of Work: Guaranteed a minimum of 24 hours per pay (biweekly)
Wage: Hourly: Start – $25.97 6 Months – $26.30 One Year – $26.73

Position
The Community Support Worker provides services and supports for clients in various locations as part of a team under the direction of in charge residential staff to ensure an optimum living environment.

Duties

  1. Assists in direct care of and in maintaining a healthy, safe living environment for Persons Served;
  2. Assisting in the provision of personal care i.e., bathing, dressing, feeding, brushing of teeth, toileting, etc.;
  3. Participating with and supporting in areas such as cooking (following direction of dietitian and Canada food guide), housecleaning, laundry, making beds, and outside duties as required;
  4. Operating Ongwanada vehicles for transportation to and from various sites and activities, as required;
  5. Participates in client-focused leisure and recreational activities and events;
  6. Provides 1-1 support to clients as required under direction of person in charge/supervisor;
  7. Other Duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  1. Certification as a Health care Aide or related experience
  2. Current certificates in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid
  3. A valid class G driving license with full driving privilege, and successful completion of an Ongwanada recognized Defensive Driving Course
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication skills combined with sound judgment
  5. Experience working with the developmentally challenged would be an asset
  6. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job and to work shifts
