Responsibilities

Product Discovery:

  1. Act to bridge the gap between business and technology, working with stakeholders, developers, UX, business analysts, and QA professionals to translate the needs of the business and userbase into technology solutions.
  2. Work with UX Design and Development teams to generate novel technology solutions to capitalize on business opportunities and solve problems.
  3. Gather, analyze, and synthesize both qualitative and quantitative data about the use of your product, then communicate that data to the business and your team to support decisions on the direction and feature set of your product.
  4. Develop business acumen that informs the value delivery for your product.
  5. Create, manage, and support groups of end users and stakeholders that provide feedback and insight into the direction of your product.
  6. Consistently evaluate and identify opportunities for improvement of applications from both a business and technical perspective to meet needs within a changing business climate.
  7. Develop strong working relationships with managers, the Executive team, and people throughout the business that intersect with your product area to help inform the vision for your product.

Product Definition:

  1. Engage with UX Design to refine feature ideas by developing designs and prototypes, then iterate on them based on feedback and user testing.
  2. Coordinate with Business Analysts to ensure accurate documentation is created, communicated, and agreed upon.
  3. Coordinate with Development Leaders to understand technical constraints, adjusting features to make pragmatic use of development effort.
  4. Clearly define user stories that can be developed, tested, and accomplish the desired outcomes for each feature.
  5. Create communication materials and lead meetings to develop shared understanding of upcoming feature sets with business stakeholders, users, and development teams.
  6. Help develop a training strategy and training materials for users where necessary, so that support personnel can assist users with new features.
  7. Identify and work with vendors of third party software on product integrations that drive value for your product.

Product Delivery:

  1. Guide your Development team in creating features that accomplish the desired outcomes, establishing product direction and purpose, and making day-to-day decisions on scope, functionality, and user experience.
  2. Own the backlog and long term roadmap for one or more software products, ensuring that your teams are always delivering the highest value features to the business.
  3. Manage day to day aspects of sprint ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective, and daily stand ups.
  4. Enhance your team’s velocity through clarity, timeliness, and thoroughness of communication.
  5. Ensure high adoption rates of new features by working with internal Change Managers to proactively communicate upcoming changes and develop rollout strategies.
  6. Follow-up with users post-release for feedback on newly developed features or changes and ensure lessons learned and feedback are considered.

Skills and Experience

  1. A minimum of three (3) years working with Agile Product teams in a technology-focused role.
  2. Working knowledge of development management software such as Atlassian or Microsoft DevOps.
  3. Working knowledge of Figma.
  4. Previous experience leading development teams for technology products.
  5. Previous experience leading technology products in a highly regulated industry.
  6. Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and/or formal Application Lifecycle Management methodologies and frameworks.
