The Blind River engineering department is looking for an engineering technologist experienced in CAD who would like to be part of a growing team that provides design services and solutions to support ongoing site operations.

Position and Responsibilities

As a member of the engineering department, the engineering technologist will provide support to the refinery operations based on knowledge of mechanical equipment and design. Responsibilities include:

  1. Provide CAD services, including the production of CAD construction drawings, developing 3D process plant models, piping layout designs, intelligent P&IDs, HVAC schematics, and maintaining current as-built drawings.
  2. Support the delivery of all site capital, expense, and general improvement projects through the design, construction, commissioning, and transfer phases.
  3. Responsible for day-to-day departmental support, including drawing/documentation requests, equipment file maintenance, and engineering document control.
  4. Ensure that design work is completed in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements (Federal, Provincial, and corporate SHEQ).
  5. Travel occasionally to other Cameco production facilities.

Education and Qualifications

Required:

  • Diploma in mechanical engineering technology or CAD/CAM Engineering Technology. Other disciplines may be considered.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration as an A.Sc.T, C.E.T, or international equivalent technology certification.
  • Four to eight years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD is essential.
  • Competent in the use of MS Office software, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience may also be considered.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaborative teamwork skills.

Assets:

  • Design knowledge and exposure to various fields of mechanical engineering, including but not limited to pumping, piping, tanks, pressure vessels, building services, HVAC, and dust collection systems.
  • Hands-on experience in 3D modelling design software (preferred experience with Autodesk Plant 3D, Inventor, Revit, Navisworks), Smart P&IDs, and Autodesk Vault or similar drawing management system.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management system, preference for SAP.
