Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Computing and Academic Studies is seeking a regular, part-time (0.6 FTE) Technician III.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the activities of the accredited forensic DNA laboratory, assisting in the departmental research activities, preparation of forensic laboratory sessions and mock crime scene scenarios running within the academic programs, assisting the program coordinators in operational matters of the department, quality assurance, repair and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and other related duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Forensic Science.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an accredited forensic DNA laboratory setting that uses Next Generation Sequencing.
  • Experience processing casework samples and completion of an understudy training program are assets.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $68,182 - $81,209 per annum.

Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience, and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
