Job Summary:

The Technician - Compliance will be responsible for ensuring products meet all necessary certification requirements. This position owns the entire certification process, from researching requirements, completing documentation, and auditing conformance. Strong communication skills and confidence are essential for this position as it is responsible for ensuring certification standards are met, creating standard operating procedures, and enforcing compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Compile and submit certification documentation
2. Ensure new products meet certifier standards by determining requirements and communicating with the Engineering Department.
3. Design processes and documents related to applicable accreditations
4. Execute certification requirements into production
5. Review and approve product bills of materials (BOM) for compliance
6. Ensure continual conformance with certifier standards and customer requirements by conducting spot checks, audits, and maintenance of files
7. Support purchasing in dealing with suppliers to obtain material declarations
8. Update supplier listings and share alternatives with certifiers
9. Review and maintain product manuals for certification compliance
10. Assist in preparing and performing compliance and internal audits.
11. Maintain relationships with clients whose products have already received accreditation
12. Oversee warranty/Return Goods Authorization (RGA) program – ensuring appropriate corrective actions, assessing claims, and monthly reports

Must Have Qualifications & Skills:

1. Completion of post-secondary education in a related field
2. 1-3 years of regulatory, technical, or project coordination experience
3. Excellent reading comprehension and technical writing skills; reading, understanding, and dissemination of technical documents including drawings
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
6. Attention to detail
7. Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications And Skills:

1. Previous experience with plumbing standards
2. Experience with electronic safety standards like IEC 60335, UL 979, or CSA 22.2
3. Audit experience
4. Proficient in the use of MRP/ERP systems and concepts
5. Able to use measuring equipment, multimeter, and oscilloscope

Working Conditions:

1. Primarily office-based, with some time spent in the warehouse
2. Extended periods of sitting and working on a computer
3. Periodic lifting, pushing, and pulling
