Temporary position for 12 months. The work mode arrangement for the position is full-time on site.
As a Technician in Auxiliary jobs and services, you assist with preventive and day-to-day maintenance of the organization’s buildings. You perform technical and specialized work to meet the organization’s operational and maintenance needs. The ability to tailor your approach as needed is therefore essential. You use tools and supplies, operate specialized equipment, and keep them in good working order. Your tasks and activities require extensive practical knowledge. You follow general guidelines and comply with rules and standards. You draw on your sound decision-making skills to solve technical and operational problems, evaluate issues, and help develop recommendations, solutions, and action plans. You help develop and improve methods and procedures. You serve as a resource person for your unit and practitioners. More specifically, you will be required to:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management system for equipment inventory and log work assignments.
- Conduct periodic maintenance and safety inspections, respond to emergency situations promptly.
- Daily inspection of building perimeter, including general repairs.
- Timely completion of work orders from call-in requests or preventive maintenance schedule.
- Provide IT support – installation of accessories and cable management.
- General maintenance and repair work across various areas (painting, drywall repairs, electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, signage, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, flooring installation, grounds keeping, snow and ice removal).
- General furniture installs and repairs.
- Door and lock installs and repairs (deadbolts, levers, combination locks, hinges, sweeps, etc.).
- Move items as needed (furniture, file cabinets, boxes, etc.).
- Utilize company tools and approved systems to order supplies and equipment.
- Perform manual labor, including bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Work with moderate exposure to hazards, following safety requirements and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Use various tools and equipment daily, including vehicles, cellular phone, phone system, computer equipment, printer, fax, copier, drills, wrenches, saws.
- Act as first responders to emergencies, including fire alarms and building management system alarms.
- Train to make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems; contact tradespersons for major repairs.

What you bring to the table
- College diploma in trades, engineering or in a related field
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience
- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Expert proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
- Knowledge of Building Automation System
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC principles
- Knowledge of schematics, plans, and blueprints
- Knowledge of lockout tag-out procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs frequently
- Ability to maintain a safe work environment
- Availability for emergency coverage outside of regular hours due to 24/7 services
- Availability to travel to other locations within the Greater Toronto Area
- Must have a valid G driver's license
