Job description

3rd Class Power Engineer

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing leadership, direction and supervision to a shift crew
  • Maintaining a safe work environment
  • Ensuring consistent operation of the Thermal Plant, 2-55 million BTU furnaces burning hog fuel
  • Work towards achieving operating targets
  • Facilitating the reliable supply of services to the sawmill
  • Supervising operation of a wide variety of equipment including efficient Kiln Operation
  • Effective fuel management
  • Experience with Forklift, loader and other mobile equipment would be an asset

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven leadership skills and experience
  • A 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate, 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate also considered
  • Industrial experience
  • 1-2 years Thermal Oil Plant experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Desire to progress, learn, grow and succeed
  • Physical ability to work 12 hour shifts

Compensation Package:

  • Hourly pay for this position

Located in Alberta, Blue Ridge and its surrounding area, which includes the cities of Whitecourt and Mayerthorpe, have populations ranging from approximately 200 to 10,500. These communities are located less than 2 hours West of the major City of Edmonton or 3 hours East of the world-renowned Jasper National Park.
