Job description

They have engaged ROSS (www.getROSS.com) to help them recruit Technical Consultants. ROSS is a team of People Specialists helping companies align their People Strategy with their business growth. We provide remote or onsite HR and Recruitment solutions such as Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO), complimented by leading edge open-source HRIS software.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Experience or understanding of a combination of SSH, security, IP protocols, firewall, interface with LDAP or Active Directory, security on UNIX, firewalls, TCP/IP.
  2. Installing, configuring their software on various operating systems.
  3. Provides solutions to problems assigned by the technical lead on the project.
  4. Works well with the team in the project to meet the project objectives.
  5. Communicates effectively with both the team members and customers both in the written and spoken form.
  6. Makes effective use of the time to deliver a quality work product as agreed with the technical lead on the project.
  7. Performs good quality testing of the work product developed.
  8. Escalates technical issues with the team leader for solution.
  9. Provides status on tasks assigned in the project to the tech lead and the project manager.
  10. Ensure up-to-date knowledge in our client’s and competitive solutions, through self-motivated approach to continuous learning.
  11. Actively participates in knowledge-sharing activities.
  12. Documents programs and program flows.
  13. Ensures that programming complies with available standards from our client.
  14. Develops prototypes as required.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor's degree or College Diploma.
  2. Experience or understanding of a combination of SSH, security, IP protocols, firewall, interface with LDAP or Active Directory, security on UNIX, firewalls, TCP/IP. Working knowledge of common hardware environments and operating systems.
  3. Knowledge of UNIX, and Windows environments.
  4. Basic understanding of connectivity issues and connectivity protocols, ability to use and configure software on multiple operating systems.
  5. Experience using relational database technology such as DB2, SQL Server or Oracle.
  6. Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  7. Ability to travel up to 25% on short assignments.

NICE TO HAVE:

  1. 1-4 years of experience with RDBMS, OLAP, data warehousing, analytics or Business Intelligence (BI) including any experience with any data warehousing or BI tools (e.g., Cognos, Informatica, Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects, Information Builders (IBI), Generation5, Angoss, Peregrine, g5, SPSS, Teradata, MicroStrategy, Netezza, ODESIA etc).
