Technical Lead - IT - Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The AI Technical Lead will be responsible for spearheading Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives within the city, ensuring all use cases adhere to internal risk management frameworks (privacy, security, ethical use, and quality) and align with city standards. This role encompasses support for the current AI landscape and evolving areas such as generative AI. The AI Technical Lead will oversee individual use cases and collaborate with various teams to identify potential opportunities and risks. Additionally, the role involves developing robust data models and machine learning algorithms to achieve desired outcomes and providing guidance for the development of Ethical Use AI policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lead the design, development, and implementation of AI solutions to address the city’s needs.
  2. Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects, from conception to deployment and maintenance.
  3. Build and deploy predictive models and AI solutions.
  4. Develop and refine machine learning models, algorithms, and frameworks to support city initiatives.
  5. Manage all aspects of project lifecycle by applying project management methodologies (agile, hybrid, waterfall) and adhering to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), City standards, and best practices.
  6. Conduct research on data availability/collection and suitability for various city projects.
  7. Provide technical & process knowledge for business cases and other initiatives for business process improvements.
  8. Generate reports through developed queries and logic to support decision-making.
  9. Collaborate with various departments to identify and prioritize AI use cases.
  10. Work closely with city officials, department heads, city staff, and external partners to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Graduate degree in a quantitative field, Computer Science, Business Administration, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field and/or Post graduate diploma or certification in Artificial Intelligence.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in Data Management, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence projects.
  3. Hands-on experience in developing, managing, or deploying AI models or tools.
  4. Experience with large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP) technologies.
  5. In-depth knowledge of emerging technologies and cloud-based tools for AI development.
  6. Understanding of global regulatory requirements for AI.
  7. Expertise in risk policy frameworks and quality control/testing frameworks.
  8. Project Management Certification and/or Agile Project Management Certification.
  9. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  10. Expertise in machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
  11. Strong skills in data analysis, data visualization, and data engineering.
  12. Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  13. Ability to architect scalable and robust AI systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  14. Demonstrated leadership experience with outstanding project management and communication skills.

Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 94,982.00 - $ 126,643.00
