Why is this role important:
The Technical Designer is accountable to implement both Design’s creative vision and Joe Fresh’s customer expectations through the fit, construction and quality of our product. This is accomplished through solid pattern making capabilities, manufacturing knowledge, and proactive and collaborative communication with our internal cross functional partners and external vendor base.

What you'll do:

  1. Track and manage workflow and ensure seasonal deadlines are met by maintaining the applicable areas of PLM, Fit Agenda, and other administrative tools used by the Technical Design Department. Follow up on fit sample status with factories.
  2. Participate in departmental and cross-departmental meetings as appropriate.
  3. Understand Corporate Calendar process and deliverables.
  4. Understand Design’s creative vision, including silhouette, fabrication, fit intent and design details, and effectively collaborate to translate to the Joe Fresh customer.
  5. Proactively recommend solutions that will ensure Design intent, fit, construction, quality, timelines and cost are met.
  6. Apply Joe Fresh’s Fit Classifications and Pattern Blocks to ensuring fit consistency throughout the category.
  7. Understand fit model measurements and how to incorporate into fit process.
  8. Understand grading standards and manage exceptions effectively.
  9. Follow the Joe Fresh How to Measure Manual to measure all garments.
  10. Follow Joe Fresh Garment Construction Standards and manage exceptions effectively.
  11. Follow technical trim standards.
  12. Ensure garment fit and construction consistency within product category.
  13. Implement design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining corporate standards.
  14. Communicate sample requirements & style revisions to factory.
  15. Evaluate samples to determine compliance of measurements, construction, and fit intent.
  16. Identify potential fit, quality and production issues and make appropriate recommendations while maintaining design’s creative vision and fit intent.
  17. Lead fittings on live model, work with cross-functional departments to achieve design vision and communicate fit and balance corrections to participants.
  18. Ensure external pattern meets Joe Fresh’s design and fit intent, where appropriate.
  19. Identify and proactively engage business partners & managers when issues arise with recommendations for viable options/solutions.
  20. Collaborate with the QA department to ensure there are no potential quality assurance issues.
  21. Manage files associated with style approval, including final production pattern, approved tech pack etc.
  22. Commitment to promoting a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging.

What you bring:

  1. Highly organized & able to multi-task.
  2. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
  3. Working knowledge of Pattern making Software (Lectra, Gerber).
  4. Working knowledge of 3D Design software (CLO).
  5. Working knowledge of PLM software.
  6. Detail-oriented.
