Role Overview:

We're looking for a Technical Data Analyst in our Data team to develop a deep understanding of our data in order to collaborate with various teams to consolidate documentation, standardize data diagrams, and develop comprehensive training resources. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in all aspects of technical data analysis of business requirements for the purposes of moving, transforming, reporting, documenting and enabling self-discovery, understanding and awareness of data assets to support Reach delivery teams such as BI, DS, DE, AppInt. This person should be committed to transforming business objectives into requirements that will help produce readable, goal-oriented reports and documentation that drive innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Defining, maintaining, and monitoring the data catalog, collaborating with teams to ensure information is current and accurate, and automating processes to enhance efficiency.
  2. Developing and updating high-level data models and diagrams, identifying outdated or missing visual representations, and assisting teams in creating detailed diagrams for critical data areas.
  3. Educating teams on data usage and interpretation, including training on the data catalog, and developing comprehensive training materials to support ongoing education.
  4. Establishing and documenting processes and objectives for the technical data analysis team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
  5. Analyzing existing internal and external data sources and structures to inform the development of new data assets, and collaborating with Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Data Engineering teams to define data requirements for delivery layers and data marts.
  6. Translating technical understanding of data issues to business-friendly communications.
  7. Collaborating with various business team members on time-sensitive client issues.
  8. Obtaining a deep understanding of the Reach data systems and transactional data.
  9. Conducting data analysis deep dives into large scale, detailed transactions.

Requirements:
  1. Undergraduate degree in a related technical/analytical field (Computer Science, Data Statistics, Mathematics).
  2. Strong SQL knowledge and practical experience working with relational databases.
  3. Experience with technical data modeling and data diagrams (ERD, dataflow, definitions).
  4. Experience with technical writing such that complex data considerations can be expressed clearly in writing.
  5. Experience extracting data from databases, flat files, developer portals, web APIs, and programming libraries.
  6. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting.
  7. Strong analytical skills related to working with development tools, database technologies, APIs, structured and unstructured datasets.
  8. Experience with source control and CI/CD tools, like GitHub.
  9. Continuous improvement mindset taking initiative to research and adapt new technologies and methodologies.
  10. Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
  11. Strong attention to detail when problem-solving.
  12. Strong sense of ownership.
  13. Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.

Additional Assets:
  1. Practical experience with Snowflake on AWS.
  2. Work experience in a technology startup or eCommerce environment.
  3. Experience working with the Atlassian suite of tools like JIRA and Confluence.
  4. Experience with a cloud environment like GCP, Azure, AWS.
  5. Experience with reporting tools like Power BI and Sigma.
  6. Experience with data transformation tools and automations like Workato, Matillion, Snowflake automations (Snowpipe, Snowflake Tasks), DBT.
  7. Experience with project management.
