How You’ll Make an Impact

The Team Manager, Dealer Relations and Industry Support is responsible for dealer automation and supporting the relationships with external dealers and internally across Fidelity. This role manages the Dealer Relations specialists and supports/leads various internal projects including product launches. This individual coordinates with key stakeholders within CS and across FIC to assess issues, provide alternatives, provide perspective on behalf of the dealers and effectively ensure risk is managed throughout.

The Team Manager, Dealer Relations & Industry Support is the relationship manager to Fundserv, Fund Companies, and other industry contacts. This role is also responsible for looking for and analyzing ways to improve dealer automation and reduce NIGOs to achieve the goals of paper and error reduction. This individual is a strong subject matter expert for FIC and able to represent Operations on key projects, issue resolution, and processes within FIC.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Team Manager of Dealer Relations Specialists (DRS).
    • Provide active team management for the Dealer Relations team including supporting the dealer automation mandate within the team.
    • Coach and educate Dealer Relations Specialists on Fundserv, dealer back-office systems and operational procedures and processes.
    • Mitigate risk through oversight and management of processes.
    • Develop solid relationships with Product/Advisor Sales/Sales Planning team to support product rollout and decision making.
  2. Regulatory and industry standards of processing systems.
    • Act as the Fidelity CS operational subject matter expert on the review of new products and initiatives against known regulatory and industry standards to identify impacted areas and ensure that these issues/changes are addressed.
    • Liaise with Compliance and IT as the Operations specialist able to weigh in and assess impact to CS Operations as it pertains to the end-to-end transfer agency process.
  3. Internal and external working group/committee representation.
    • Act as Fidelity CS operational subject matter expert on external working groups/committees ensuring the needs of FIC are balanced against the greater good of the industry i.e. Fundserv and Dealer Relations working groups.
    • Provide internal guidance on Fundserv and regulatory practices to support FIC’s mutual fund operations teams and the various FIC business partners as it relates to daily operational performance/capabilities.
    • Work with Dealer Relations to assess impact of proposed processes and/or system changes to dealer’s operations.
    • Develop strong relationships with other competitors so as to be able to carefully assess FIC’s position against what others are doing in the industry regarding various initiatives.
  4. Client Services - Division Support
    • Responsible for key point of escalation as it pertains to automated money movement and settlement activity within FIC mutual fund operations and across Fundserv.
    • Provide subject matter expertise, internally and externally, for questions related to Fundserv.
    • Respond to operational questions as it relates to the industry and or competitor capabilities.
    • Support FIC mutual funds operations by acting as a subject matter of expertise on internal FIC initiatives and issues.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of mutual fund operations experience is required.
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with FundServ and IFIC committees would be an asset.
  • Completion of CSC/IFIC certification would be an asset.
  • Bilingualism in English/French would be an asset.

  • Excellent knowledge of the mutual funds industry.
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to manage and support a team.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills including experience presenting to senior executives.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence through compromise and collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of mutual fund operations where money movement, trading automation, and net settlements are concerned.
  • Proven ability to actively participate in cross departmental, cross divisional, and industry working groups as required.
  • Advanced analysis and problem-solving competency.
  • Ability to work in a team and share subject matter expertise across the organization.
  • General knowledge of distributor processes and systems is an asset.
