Position Overview

The Team Lead - Reliability will be responsible for improving equipment availability and reliability by developing and improving equipment maintenance strategies (EMS), as well as using comprehensive failure analysis and condition monitoring. Maintain database of maintenance related failures resulting in area production losses, coordinate equipment reliability or maintainability improvement initiatives. Assist in development of area inspection plans, both running and shutdown. Participate in review of mill Design and equipment standards. Participate in Capital project design reviews, ensuring reliability and maintainability factors are considered.

As a member of the Maintenance Team, the Team Lead - Reliability will report to the Superintendent – Reliability and work a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule at the Ekati Diamond Mine.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Promote and demonstrate safe work practices;
  • Effectively lead, manage and coach the Planners and Reliability Advisors;
  • Provide direction to the team, create team goals and objectives aligned with organizational priorities and effectively evaluate performance;
  • Facilitate the professional development and teamwork of the Planners and Reliability advisors;
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate reliability principles into operational processes;
  • Project Management of reliability projects from inception to completion and identifying and mitigating project risks;
  • Creation and managing of budget for area of responsibility and accountable for the quality of created Master Data;
  • Assist in the establishment and implementation of systematic preventative maintenance program with the Maintenance Superintendents and Manager;
  • Lead root cause analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) for critical assets, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Implement new equipment technologies for equipment monitoring and quality improvements including equipment upgrades and process technologies as well as methodologies to enhance asset reliability;
  • Plan the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and processes within the Plant;
  • Coordinate process design and change management requirements and failure mode analysis;
  • Review and audit bill of materials for plant equipment;
  • Outage and Capital Rebuild Planning;
  • Lead CI (Continuous Improvement) tasks reporting back to management with status updates;
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices;
  • Responsible to Review weekly schedule compliance for specified disciplines;
  • Manage Team to the site work management procedure;
  • Responsible for generating, monitoring, and analyzing monthly/weekly Planning Metrics, performance data for trends, reliability database, reporting systems and KPI’s and presenting the results to various groups including senior management;
  • Accountable for Planning and Scheduling Meetings;
  • Accountable for reviewing and analyzing Feedback from the Execution Team.

Education/Experience

  • Ticketed Journeyman or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field.
  • 10 years of related industry experience including at least 5+ years maintenance planning experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in reliability engineering tools and techniques (e.g., FMEA, RCA, RCM).
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Sound and correct understanding of equipment reliability concepts.
  • Solid appreciation of risk management strategy and quality management methods and practices.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership qualities and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • SAP experience an asset.

Additional Information

The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
