Team Captain - Finishing Line (located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada)
We are seeking an experienced Team Captain on our Finishing Line.

Objective
The team captain is the first level of leadership and a main point of contact for new hires and team members. A team captain primarily works on the production line completing hands-on tasks alongside team members. You must ensure the quality and productivity standards set by Southland Trailers are met and, if possible, exceeded at all times.
Reporting Process
The Team Captain will report directly to their Assistant Coach and indirectly to the Head Coach.
Required Skills & Experience
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate basic mechanical skills and aptitude, including safe operation of hand & power tools.
- Ability to handle items weighing in excess of 50 pounds, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning items.
- Demonstrate appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills, including the ability to understand written instructions and perform routine calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Previous Leadership or Team Captain experience.
Goals: Performance will be measured by the following criteria:
- 100% efficiency and productivity, organizing, and maintaining the needs of their designated work station.
- Communicating effectively at all times with applicable persons regarding any obstacles or challenges that may arise during the day.
- Maintaining and encouraging positive employee morale.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain and monitor product quality – repair/prevent defects.
- Coaching of team members – limited to “Coaching for Improvement” and “Great Job”. Warnings are to be completed by assistant coaches or higher.
- Maintain a strong understanding of inventory and know basic intuitive functions.
- Fill Assistant Coach duties in the case of a coach's absence.
- Maintain 5S of designated area, conduct 5S audits.
- Partake in job shadow facilitation.
- Any ad-hoc duties assigned by manager.
Health & Safety Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Read, understand and comply with Southland Trailers safety policy and safe work practices, procedures, and rules.
- Report all incidents/near misses and/or injuries, no matter how minor, to their supervisor or manager as soon as possible.
- Report all incidents/near misses which have the potential of producing serious injury or property damage.
- Take all reasonable precautions to protect the safety of other employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Mentor in the safety training of team members, contractors, and visitors.
- Set a good example.
