Applications Are Invited For The Position Of

Teacher at Parkland Composite High School

Position: Full-Time Temporary Social Studies and Alternate Delivery Teacher

Location: Parkland Composite High School - Edson, AB

Start Date: Duties to commence April 28, 2025 until June 27, 2025 or upon return of incumbent whichever happens sooner.

Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

The competition will remain open until April 23, 2025 at 12:00PM MST.

Parkland Composite High School is located in Edson, Alberta which resides in the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. A high school providing excellent education to approximately 600 students in grades 9-12.


Role And Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:


  1. Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
  2. Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
  3. Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
  4. Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
  5. Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
  6. Developing constructive relationships with parents.

Requirements

The successful candidate will:


  1. Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
  2. Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
  3. Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education.
