Job description

Rize HR is partnered with one of Vancouver's Developer to add a Tax Specialist / Manager to their Property Accounting team. This would be a fantastic opportunity for someone with 2-3 years of Canadian tax experience in public practice, or within real estate, to move their career forward with a great brand. This role will provide challenge and growth, while working with a great team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and review the group’s 300+ Canadian and US income tax and partnership returns.
  2. Prepare, update and review tax working papers and calculations (e.g. ACB, at-risk amount, CDA, capital gain, safe income, FAPI) for corporate, real estate and investment structures.
  3. Prepare other tax filings as required including foreign reporting and country-by-country reporting.
  4. Prepare year-end consolidated tax provisions for the annual audit.
  5. Assist with dissolutions and windups of inactive entities as necessary.
  6. Assist with tax planning for the corporate group and family office, documenting research and analysis on various tax issues, including federal and provincial income and other taxes (e.g., GST / HST, PST, property transfer tax, COVID incentives).
  7. Liaise with professional tax advisors as needed.
  8. Resolve CRA audits, and respond to government inquiries.
  9. Respond to ad hoc requests from operating divisions.

Qualifications:

  1. 2-3 years’ experience in Canadian tax with US tax experience being an asset but not a requirement.
  2. Strong organizational skills, ability to adapt to multiple demands, set priorities and achieve results on a timely basis.
  3. Ability to grasp accounting, tax and legal technical concepts quickly.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Experience with Tax Prep and Tax Prep Forms would be beneficial but not required.
  6. Advanced computer skills as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  7. Ability to work independently.
  8. Strong consideration will be made for candidates that possess experience in real estate property management and property development accounting.
