Overview:
Mitel is seeking a Tax Analyst who will report to the Director – International Tax. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for assisting with Canadian and international tax compliance, planning and reporting requirements of the Mitel Group. The successful candidate will play an integral role in identifying and implementing best practices, and optimizing the Mitel Group’s tax structures. This is a remote role.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file corporate income tax returns, elections and remittances in a timely and accurate manner in all jurisdictions across Canada.
- Coordinate the preparation of corporate tax returns across multiple foreign jurisdictions.
- Prepare current and deferred tax provision calculations for financial reporting.
- Assist in tax research and planning assignments incorporating tax laws of multiple North American jurisdictions; including, but not limited to, basis calculations.
- Interface with tax authorities, including assisting in the coordination of tax audits and preparation of responses.
- Coordinate with the Corporate finance team and business units to obtain tax compliance information and to provide tax guidance as necessary.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of tax-related accounting and external financial reporting, including the recognition of tax effects on various transactions and events.
- Keep abreast of the latest tax developments and issues that impact the organization such as changes in legislation, court decisions, rulings, etc.
- Assist in ad hoc projects as required.
Requirements:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Post-secondary degree with a major in accounting or finance.
- Must possess or be working towards an accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA).
- Enrollment in the CICA In-Depth tax program or Master of Tax program is considered an asset.
- Experience in the preparation and completion of complex Canadian tax returns.
- Experience in the preparation and review of tax provisions.
- Familiarity with Canadian tax research software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior management as well as external parties.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities to meet tight deadlines.
- Great team player with the ability to anticipate and proactively resolve issues.
- Strong working knowledge of computerized accounting systems, SAP, TaxPrep, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
