Your role and responsibilities

As a Talent & Learning – People Development Specialist, you’ll design and implement best in class global programs and solutions for Talent Management, Learning and other HR projects and initiatives for Electrification Installation Products (ELIP) to ensure the right capabilities are available today and tomorrow, in line with the strategic objectives of the business to drive profitable growth. Reporting to the T&L Partner Lead for ELIP, you’ll engage with HR Business Partners, Business Leaders, EL Academy, EL T&L team, and the Corporate Development team to ensure alignment with ABB Group strategies, guardrails, and best practices. This role is contributing to the Electrification, Installation Products ABB division and is located in Montreal or Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. The work model is hybrid with 1 to 3 days at the office per week.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support the implementation of the global EL Talent Management framework in close collaboration with the Division/ELIP HRBPs and T&L team, driving Succession Planning/Talent Management activities in ELIP Division, suggesting process improvement and promoting the tools used to facilitate that discussion.
  2. Proactively identify and manage T&L needs based on business requirements, needs analysis, and stakeholder input; partner with T&L Partner Lead and HR/business leaders to understand current issues that can be supported or resolved through existing HR practices, processes, or policies.
  3. Deliver global and local projects and training initiatives within the talent and learning area (e.g. Leadership development, Change Management, Succession Planning, Diversity and Inclusion, Career development, People Review Sessions, etc.), through in-person and virtual deployment/facilitation, defining the operating model for assigned talent and learning programs, and delivery model including provider management, program design, implementation, and review/evaluation while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement through new practices, processes, or policies.
  4. Ensure inclusion principles and learning opportunities are deployed within ELIP Division in support of our cultural ambitions; work toward defined KPIs and people analytics for the Division, assessing key areas requiring actions and proposing solutions.
  5. Ensure that all Talent and Learning related data for ELIP (e.g., nominations, participations) is up to date in the relevant systems and platforms (HRGT, LMS, etc.). Liaise frequently with associated systems partners (esp. GBS, IS, external providers) to collaborate on system optimizations, change requests, and possible harmonization.
  6. Build strategic partnerships and relationships with third parties including consultancies for market insights, coaches for development, and Early Talent University Relations Employer Branding Specialist for talent supply, etc. to complement and enable the business strategy when required.
  7. Act as support to HR Business Partners, as needed, to include supporting and implementing various HR solutions (i.e., tools, products, resources, and processes), providing input for enhancements while collaborating with HRBPs, managers, and employees to understand current challenges, recommending effective resolutions that align with HR solutions; represent HR in the workplace through employee engagement, building partnerships between employees, HR and Management and ensuring HR tools are deployed and utilized (i.e., talent acquisition, people development, performance management, compliance, etc.).

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • >2 years related experience in a similar talent and learning role with a focus in talent management, learning, and organizational development or consulting and advising business leaders in people related topics.
  • Having a digital mindset with proficiency using Microsoft 365 as well as strong ability to design and facilitate virtual and in-person trainings, workshops, and learning programs.
  • Fluency in French/English. Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) as well as excellent presentation and facilitation skills. French is required. English is necessary to communicate with clients outside of Quebec.
  • Experience with implementation of talent and learning initiatives in a global environment, working across multiple geographies, and within virtual teams; experience with assessments would be an asset.
  • Excellent relationship building ability across stakeholders with a collaborative approach; being self-driven, energetic, enthusiastic, and inclusive; creating or responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs; demonstrating resilience and ability to work with ambiguity and changing set of circumstances and issues.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Asset: Experience working in an HR Shared Services and complex global environment that is fast-paced and highly matrixed; ability to prioritize and make decisions in difficult or ambiguous situations.
  • SAP, Workday, Microsoft Office.
