Position: Talent Acquisition Specialist – 6 Month Contract

Reports to: Head of People Experience

Job Purpose:
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist on a 6-month contract at WVC, you will be integral in supporting our full-cycle recruitment efforts across all levels of the organization. You will work closely with hiring managers and the People & Culture team to source, attract, and hire top talent. Your role will involve everything from sourcing candidates and coordinating interviews to managing the onboarding process. Additionally, you will contribute to improving our employer branding and ensure a positive and seamless candidate experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Full-Cycle Recruitment & Sourcing:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for internal and external roles across various levels, ensuring legal compliance and best practices.
  • Source candidates using a variety of methods (job boards, LinkedIn, networking, events), building a strong pipeline for immediate and future hiring needs.
  • Partner with hiring managers to create compelling job postings, provide interview support, and guide them through best practices for recruiting.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand the specific needs of each department and role, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.
  • Conduct detailed pre-screening interviews, assessing candidates for skills, competencies, and cultural fit.
  • Provide insights on hiring trends, ensuring an unbiased and equitable recruitment process.
  • Build partnerships with external recruitment agencies to identify and source top-tier talent.

Candidate Experience & Onboarding:

  • Ensure a positive candidate experience by maintaining clear, consistent communication throughout the recruitment process.
  • Address and manage candidate inquiries and requests for accommodations in compliance with Canadian legal standards.
  • Provide timely feedback to candidates at each stage of the recruitment process, offering constructive and transparent communication.
  • Partner with the People & Culture team to ensure a smooth and engaging onboarding experience for new hires, ensuring a seamless transition into their new roles.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously look for opportunities to optimize the recruitment process, reducing time-to-hire while maintaining high standards for candidate quality.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all recruitment activities in the HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce or similar system) to maintain data integrity.
  • Develop and analyze key recruitment metrics, including time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, and quality-of-hire, to drive continuous improvement in hiring practices.
  • Stay up to date on the latest recruitment trends and technology to ensure WVC remains competitive in talent acquisition.
  • Assist in workforce planning initiatives, helping align recruitment efforts with future organizational needs.
  • Implement creative sourcing techniques, such as talent pooling, networking, and leveraging employee networks, to increase the diversity of talent pipelines.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, ideally with exposure to full-cycle recruitment across various industries and role levels.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or equivalent is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian labour laws, the Employment Standards Act, and best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Experience in employer branding or marketing is an asset.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and coach leaders on recruitment processes and best practices.
  • Results-driven and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce, Workday or a similar HRIS system is an asset.
