Job Summary:

The Advanced Tactical Instructor Pilots will be responsible for training and developing military pilots in advanced tactical flying techniques and combat operations. This role involves the delivery of comprehensive flight instruction, mission planning, and debriefing ensuring pilots are equipped with the skills necessary to execute complex aerial maneuvers and tactical missions safely and effectively. Reporting to the Vice President, Tactical, their duties and responsibilities will include:

Instruction and Training:

  1. Conducting classroom, simulator, and in-flight instruction on advanced tactical flying techniques, combat maneuvers, and mission execution
  2. Developing and implementing training curricula and materials that meet military standards and operational requirements
  3. Evaluating pilot performance through practical assessments and providing constructive feedback to improve skills and competencies
  4. Staying current with new aviation technologies, tactics, and training methodologies to ensure the highest quality of instruction

Mission Planning and Execution:

  1. Assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of training missions and exercises
  2. Providing expertise in tactical mission planning, including threat analysis, route selection, and weapons employment
  3. Participating in after-action reviews and debriefings to assess mission performance and identify areas for improvement

Safety and Compliance:

  1. Ensuring all training activities are conducted in accordance with regulations, safety standards, and operational procedures
  2. Monitoring and enforcing adherence to flight safety protocols and risk management practices
  3. Maintaining accurate training records and documentation as required by military authorities

Mentorship and Development:

  1. Serving as a mentor and role model for trainee pilots, fostering a culture of excellence, discipline, and continuous improvement
  2. Providing guidance and support to pilots in their professional development and career progression
  3. Participating in the selection and evaluation of pilot candidates for advanced tactical training programs

Collaboration and Communication:

  1. Working closely with other instructors, mission planners, and support personnel to ensure cohesive and effective training operations
  2. Communicating effectively with trainees, peers, and superiors, and always maintaining professionalism and respect
  3. Contributing to the development and enhancement of training programs through feedback and innovation

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in aviation, aeronautical engineering, or a related field is required
  2. Minimum of 500 hours in a single pilot high performance jet is required
  3. Operational experience on a front-line fighter aircraft is required
  4. Previous instructional experience is preferred
  5. A valid Transport Canada (CPL) Commercial Pilot’s Licence (more than 200 hours of flight experience) is required
  6. Valid Military pilot certification is required
  7. Valid Instructor qualification is required
  8. Transport Canada ratings and endorsements to provide instructions on different types of aircraft are required
  9. In-depth knowledge of tactical aviation operations, combat tactics, and mission planning
  10. Excellent instructional and presentation skills
  11. Proficiency with flight simulators and training software
  12. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  13. Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  14. Ability to hold a CAT-1 TC Medical and meet the physical demands of flying and instructing in high-performance aircraft
  15. Must complete ITPS standardization after employment

The position involves both office and field environments, including time spent in classrooms, simulators, and in-flight instruction.
