What this role is all about:

Beem Credit Union is looking for a Systems Support Technician I who supports Beem’s vision of sales and service excellence by providing quality, technical support to the Information Systems team, Beem employees and Board of Directors through technical support and performing maintenance of hardware and business productivity software. With an emphasis on troubleshooting and innovation, the System Support Technician I will work as a resource to optimize internal efficiency, monitor software licenses and provide staff guidance and education.

This role is based out of the Kelowna area as it serves branches and offices in-person in the Okanagan region. Access to a reliable vehicle is required.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide day to day oversight and monitoring of IT processes
  • Provide second level technical support to Beem employees & Board of Directors through the resolution of Help Desk work orders as assigned while ensuring Help Desk Service Level Agreement is met
  • Perform various research and development tasks including hardware/software testing and keep up to date with new technology
  • Assist with the technical requirements for IT Infrastructure design. Work with the IT team to proactively reduce potential future technical issues
  • Maintain system and process documentation
  • Deployment of new hardware and software while maintaining standard configurations
  • Keep up to date with new technology (this includes situations in which no training has been provided)
  • May be required to work flexible hours to support IT processes required outside of business hours

A little about your qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of servers, PCs, operating systems, windows updates, business productivity software, and peripherals in a Microsoft environment. Other O/S environments an asset
  • Degree or Diploma requiring a minimum of 1-2 years of full-time study or equivalent, in the information systems field
  • 1-2 years of job-related experience in the information systems field
  • Strong technical abilities, thorough understanding of computer hardware and networking environments in a Microsoft environment
  • Understanding of ITIL processes an asset
  • Understanding of VLANS, routing, and networking protocols (particularly IP)
  • Good working experience of network administration (Microsoft Azure Active Directory and GPO)
  • Good working experience of Office 365 Administration
