System Student Achievement Lead
Special EducationTerm Position: September 1, 2025 for up to 3 years (June 30, 2028) Subject to annual budget approval and/or annual system organization and Ministry funding continuance.
Position SummaryReporting to the Superintendent of Education, the System Student Achievement Lead: Special Education will plan, coordinate and implement Special Education Department goals. The Student Achievement Leader: Special Education will also work with the System Staff to complete professional development for teachers, school SERTs and principals/vice-principals in the areas of curriculum and assessment. Other areas of responsibilities include budget monitoring, specialized transportation, annual IEP and program reviews, Ministry initiatives, community partnerships, system IPRC representation, Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), and High Needs Transition to School collaboration.
QualificationsIn order to be considered, you must hold the Qualifications noted at the time of application.
Basic: Qualification in three (3) Divisions
Additional: Special Education, Specialist
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience. Experience as a Special Education Resource Teacher (System SERT preferred).
Other:- Demonstrated ability to lead system level initiatives in a Special Education setting;
- Able to articulate service in Special Education as a call to Catholic Vocation;
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate small and large groups of teachers in a collaborative setting;
- Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into teaching/learning activities;
- Strong understanding of the key Special Education initiatives from the Ministry of Education.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe System Student Achievement Lead: Special Education will participate in the District Student Achievement Team and support the development of goals and strategies to improve student achievement as set out in the Board Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and the Board's Multi-Year Strategic Plan (Student Achievement). The Student Achievement Leader: Special Education will represent the Board on numerous community and district committees and fulfill duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Education and/or the Director of Education. The Student Achievement Leader: Special Education will assist the Superintendent of Education with resource allocation (personnel, SEA equipment and assistive technology) for the Board.
