Overview:
One of our most respected clients within Power Logistics is looking to hire a Senior Systems Specialist: GIS Implementation and Integration into its GIS and Integration Solutions team on a contract basis and located in Calgary.

What you will be doing:

• The Senior Systems Specialist – Geographic Information Systems is responsible for providing technical support to projects for Geographic Information System (GIS) software and applications.
• The role includes responsibility for the design, development, and implementation of GIS solutions to meet the needs of our client.
• Your expertise in GIS technologies and data analysis will enable you to guide the organization in the development of cutting-edge geospatial solutions and will contribute to the overall success of our clients GIS operation.
• This opportunity is technical in nature and requires deep GIS technical knowledge.

What you must have:

• Experienced in GIS Software: Esri suite of products.
• Experienced in GIS Software Implementation and integration into existing environment.
• Experienced in end-to-end software development lifecycle encapsulating analysis, design, estimating, testing and implementation of packaged systems.
• 5 years minimum experience with C#, .NET, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, SQL or PL/SQL, FME.
• Experience working in a regulated environment, preferred within the electrical utility industry.
• In-depth knowledge of GIS technologies, including the Esri ArcGIS platform.
• Strong understanding of geospatial data concepts and data formats including projections, coordinate systems, and spatial analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Knowledge of database systems and data management principles, including spatial databases.
• Solid understanding of system integration concepts, including web services (RESTful, SOAP), APIs, and ETL processes.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings.
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of information into action plans and recommendations while considering the business benefit in all solution designs.
• Familiar with system development lifecycle processes and methodologies such as project management, analysis/design, testing, and implementation planning/deployments.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate effort and difficulty of development and configuration tasks.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing demands with tight timelines.
• Ability to effectively cope with change; this includes demonstrating personal flexibility, learning new systems and processes quickly while focusing on understanding and contributing value.
