One (1) Permanent Full-Time System Architect - Information Technology Services

NBRHC – North Bay

Salary: $44.70 (Min) – $ 55.88 (Max) based on experience

North Bay Regional Health Centre is presently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our

Information Technology Services (ITS) team. Reporting to the Manager of Information

Technology (IT), the System Architect is responsible for design and implementation of complex

IT systems and networks to meet the specific needs of the organization.

The System Architect coordinates the work by ITS Specialists to build, operate and maintain information

technology’s systems to ensure their proper operation. Their expertise is not just technical, as they have

to transform the IT infrastructure into a development and strategy tool. Beyond purely technical skills, the

systems architect requires excellent knowledge of organizational operations, ensuring that IT systems

are aligned with business objectives and capable of supporting current and future needs.

Essential duties include:

  1. Requirement Analysis: They work closely with stakeholders to understand the organization's technical requirements, goals, and constraints.
  2. System Design: They design high-level architecture for IT systems, including hardware, software, network, and security components. This involves selecting appropriate technologies, platforms, and protocols to meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  3. Technical Guidance: They provide technical guidance and recommendations to development teams, ensuring that the implemented solutions align with the architectural vision and best practices.
  4. Prototyping and Proof of Concepts: They may create prototypes or proof of concepts to validate the feasibility and performance of architectural designs before full-scale implementation.
  5. Integration: They ensure seamless integration of various IT systems and components, including legacy systems, third-party applications, and cloud services.
  6. Performance Optimization: They optimize system performance by fine-tuning configurations, implementing caching mechanisms, and identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  7. Security: They oversee the design and implement security measures to protect IT systems from unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber-attacks. This involves implementing encryption, access controls, intrusion detection systems, and other security mechanisms.
  8. Documentation: They document architectural designs, technical specifications, and implementation guidelines to facilitate knowledge sharing and future maintenance.
  9. Collaboration: They collaborate with other IT professionals, such as software developers, network engineers, and database administrators, to ensure the successful implementation and operation of IT systems.
  10. Continuous Learning and Innovation: They stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve their architectural designs and contribute to the organization's innovation efforts.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

Education:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or a related field or a combination of education, training, and experience;

Certificates/Experience/Knowledge:

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in implementing, managing and supporting the following:

  • M365 productivity and collaborative cloud services
  • Windows Server (2019 or higher)
  • Active Directory, Azure, DNS, DHCP
  • Exchange Server (2019 or higher)
  • Internet Information Server (IIS)
  • Networking protocols and technologies
  • Virtualization and containerization technologies (VMware vSphere, Horizon)
  • Database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL)
  • Network security and vulnerability analysis

Architecture and Design Skills: Strong architectural and design skills are essential, such as:

  • Design scalable, reliable, and high-performance IT systems
  • Develop architecture blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools based on requirements

Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check recent within six (6) months is a requirement
