The Opportunity

Our client, a world-class provider of packaging and medication dispensing solutions is looking for a Systems Administrator to join their team. As a Systems Administrator, you will play a key role in maintaining, implementing, and supporting the IT hardware and systems infrastructure for our client. This position is crucial in safeguarding current technology investments while also exploring innovative solutions that enhance the effectiveness of technology in driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Administering and overseeing the IT infrastructure, including cloud-hosted servers, networks, wireless networks, communication systems, peripherals, and operating systems, ensuring stability, performance, and dependability.
  • Managing Microsoft 365 and related cloud services to guarantee smooth functionality for users across the organization.
  • Assisting with the setup, installation, and maintenance of hardware and telecommunications systems such as PCs, servers, VOIP systems, routers, and switches.
  • Implementing and updating security protocols to safeguard technology assets from both external and internal threats.
  • Supervising the day-to-day operations of IT systems, while providing end-user support across multiple locations.
  • Ensuring uptime and high performance of critical production assets in support of 24/7 manufacturing and distribution operations across various time zones.
  • Offering guidance on system maintenance, upgrades, and replacements by prioritizing initiatives based on organizational requirements.
  • Researching and recommending new hardware and software technologies to ensure they are compatible with the organization’s current systems.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for hardware and infrastructure concerns, while evaluating the effectiveness of external service providers.
  • Recording issues and resolutions in a tracking system while maintaining comprehensive network and system documentation.
  • Assisting in monitoring and managing IT assets, ensuring accurate inventory control, and overseeing performance for lifecycle management.
  • Supporting the installation, maintenance, and optimization of production systems, software, and communication infrastructure.
  • Participating in server OS and application upgrades, bug fixes, and system patches.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of IT policies, standards, and procedures in collaboration with technical staff and vendors.
  • Developing and executing backup and disaster recovery plans, regularly testing and documenting them to ensure business continuity.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and travel to other locations as needed.

What You'll Need to Be Successful

  • A post-secondary diploma in a related field is essential.
  • Experience working with multi-network platforms, multi-application systems, cloud technology, ERP systems, and Microsoft applications in a multi-site environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL is an asset.
