You'll be responsible for:
  • Leading the development and implementation of environment and sustainability strategy for specific programs within the Ontario GO Expansion rail development portfolio. This includes agreeing project outcomes, monitoring of KPI's and ensuring delivery by the project team.
  • Providing technical guidance to project/programme teams, delivering service excellence through purposeful, measurable outcomes.
  • Supporting the client in maintaining their ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, to promote environmental awareness, complying with environmental regulations and to drive continuous environmental improvement by objectives and monitoring performance.
  • Embedding a risk-based approach in identifying significant environmental aspects and impacts to reduce impacts on the environment through pollution prevention, waste reduction, biodiversity preservation, and adoption of energy efficiency measures.
  • Promoting the awareness and implementation of green building practices that embrace the idea of minimizing energy consumption, use of sustainable materials, renewable energy generation, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Working collaboratively towards the common goal to enhance environmental and sustainability performance.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with wider project delivery functions.
  • Providing the client and internal senior management teams with periodic progress reports relating to specified environment and sustainability actions.
  • Conducting the implementation, evaluation and adjustment measures of the environmental and sustainability strategy.
  • Monitoring and reporting of contractor's legal requirements and project agreement documentation compliance.
  • Embed key performance indicators (KPIs) for environmental performance to measure progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coaching and mentoring the client project delivery teams on risk-based approaches to identify and mitigate environmental risks, aligned with the client environmental management system.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on contractors' implementation of GHG reduction measures and sustainable building practices.
  • Developing and implementation of environmental campaigns, workshops and training to enhance environmental awareness across the project to reduce environmental impact and increase environmental performance.
  • Supporting Mace to deliver its corporate sustainability strategy, including 10 million tonnes of client carbon saving.
  • Supporting the development of case studies and best practice and share lessons learned with the wider client project delivery teams and internal Mace teams.
You'll need to have:
  • Degree level qualification in environmental management, geography, or related subject.
  • Practical experience in the following sectors would be beneficial: infrastructure, including, rail, highways, and aviation.
  • Experience implementing and managing environmental management systems (ISO 14001) on a project.
  • Experience with engaging multiple stakeholders and third parties about environment and sustainability.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in LEED certifications and implementation of GHG reduction measures.
  • Experience in working with Sustainability Reporting Frameworks, such as the GRI - Global Reporting Initiative.
  • Working knowledge of E&S policies, standards, legislation and procedures pertaining to the industry.
  • Competent in the use of IT programmes such as Microsoft office.
