Purpose of Your Position
A Survey Technician I conducts preliminary construction and topographical surveys, processes collected field data, and supports Survey Technician II in surveying activities.
Duties
- Assists in completion of survey projects and undertakes independent survey projects as assigned.
- Operates survey equipment, including GPS, total stations, and manual levels, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality survey results.
- Provides technical calculations and survey data to determine precise locations and measurements of points, elevations, grades, levels, areas, and contours for design, construction, confirmation of property lines, or other municipal purposes.
- Processes collected field data to ensure quality survey.
- Complies with Work Safe BC rules and regulations, and the City’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Performs Flagging duties as necessary to ensure safety of crew. Arranges for lane closures as needed. Maintains compliance with the Traffic Control Manual.
- Maintains and recommends servicing all types of survey equipment and tools, to ensure accuracies are maintained.
- Maintains and updates survey monument network as directed.
Minimum Requirements
- One year Certificate in Survey (Geomatics)

Pay Rate: Starts at $35.58 per hour with a 2-step progression to $37.89 per hour
