Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Survey Manager to join our team! In this role, you will oversee all surveying activities, ensure data accuracy, lead a team of surveyors, and ensure compliance with airfield safety and regulatory standards.
This role requires a strong technical background in land surveying, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to support the successful execution of the airfield project.
What You'll be Doing:
- Develop and implement comprehensive surveying plans for airfield projects, including control surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
- Coordinate with design engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of surveying activities with project timelines and goals.
- Manage surveying resources, including personnel and equipment, to ensure efficiency and accuracy in data collection.
- Oversee and conduct field surveys, ensuring all data is gathered accurately using modern surveying tools such as GPS, total stations, and LiDAR.
- Analyze collected data to produce accurate topographic maps, as-built surveys, and other reports required by engineers and project stakeholders.
- Ensure that all survey data complies with project specifications and regulatory standards for airfield operations.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes for surveying activities, ensuring all outputs are precise and meet industry standards.
- Prepare and review survey reports, technical drawings, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide regular progress updates and technical reports to senior management, highlighting any issues or challenges that arise during surveying operations.
- Ensure that all surveying activities on the airfield adhere to safety protocols and comply with aviation regulations, including those set by ICAO, FAA, and other relevant authorities.
- Conduct risk assessments for surveying operations and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards associated with airfield environments.
- Lead and manage a team of surveyors, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct performance reviews, setting goals for team members and ensuring that surveying activities are executed efficiently and accurately.
- Foster a collaborative team environment focused on high performance, safety, and quality.
- Oversee the selection, calibration, and maintenance of surveying equipment, ensuring it is in optimal working condition for accurate data collection.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in surveying tools and techniques, incorporating relevant innovations to improve survey processes.
- Maintain effective communication with project managers, contractors, engineers, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment on surveying objectives and project progress.
- Provide clear and actionable insights based on survey data to support project decision-making and design modifications.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to airfield surveying, land use, and construction.
- Maintain thorough and organized records of survey data, reports, and project documentation for future reference and audits.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications such as Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent are preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in surveying, with at least 3-5 years in managing airfield or aviation-related surveying projects.
- Proven track record of conducting and managing surveys for complex infrastructure projects, particularly in airfield environments.
- Strong proficiency with surveying tools and software, including GPS, total stations, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center.
- In-depth knowledge of airfield infrastructure and design, as well as aviation safety standards (ICAO, FAA).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage teams and work with diverse project stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex survey data.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Professional certifications such as PLS, or equivalent, and knowledge of airfield safety operations.
- Experience with LiDAR, drone surveying, or GIS technologies.
- Familiarity with airfield construction practices and regulations, including runway/taxiway design and drainage systems.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process optimization, leveraging new technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
