Job description

Your Opportunity:

Adhering to CSA Group Standards and Alberta Health Guidelines, the MDRT performs technical duties under general supervision relating to the transportation of contaminated medical devices, disassembly, decontamination, assembly, functional testing, high level disinfection, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reprocessed medical devices/equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate. Description:

The Surgical Processor is responsible for the decontamination, reprocessing, and distribution of a variety of sterile and non-sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Program (including successful completion of practicum placement) required. A Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Medical Device Reprocessing Certification required.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Program (including successful completion of practicum placement). CSA Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working within an MDRD or hospital facility. General computer skills.
