What You’ll Do

As the Surface and Underground Relief Operator, you will travel to mine sites located in the Arctic to provide proper staffing coverage. You will work shifts at a variety of locations such as Meadowbank Mines, Meliadine, Diavik, and Ekati. The underground operator will ensure the safe and effective preparation and delivery of correct explosive products to the loading sites. Other duties will include:

  • Safely operate and maintain loading and delivery equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures, and in a manner that protects company assets and ensures their dependability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment when not in proper working condition.
  • Work independently, traveling between the loading sites and the plant on a 5 day/week basis (overtime and overnight runs along with weekend work will be required).
  • Contribute to the establishment of strong positive relations between the Company and the Site’s prime client.
  • Respond readily and in a manner that reinforces the reputation of the Company as a supplier with the highest standards of product quality and customer service.
  • Possess a good general knowledge of handling, storing, and using explosives on surface (NRC regulations).
  • Have a full understanding of documentation required for completing all job tasks related to pumping emulsion explosives.
  • Accurately and fully complete all required documentation and reports within time requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
  • Guarantee that a safe working environment is maintained in compliance with all of Dyno Nobel’s safety rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate initiative and embrace the Company’s standards for safety and customer satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or the equivalent preferred.
  • Mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with Underground equipment hydraulic and electrical (asset).
  • Class 5 Driver License.
  • May require lifting of 60 lbs.
  • Ability to work a fly in/fly out schedule.
  • Ability to frequently travel to different Dyno Nobel locations in the Arctic.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment where required.
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player.
