Surface Trainer

Reporting to the Health and Safety Training Supervisor, you will be part of the Health and Safety Department. The Surface Trainer satisfies the necessary prerequisite training against the AEM Classification Guideline for mobile equipment operation. Actively supports Ontario Ministry of Labour compliance with regard to OHSA requirements. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction and guidance to site employees on the proper use of various equipment on site.
• Support Mill and Surface training curriculum, training schedules and safe operating procedures.
• Provide leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards in conjunction with the safety and environmental department.
• Assess qualifications and on-the-job training of all new employees.
• Perform regular training needs analysis and ensure accurate and comprehensive training records are maintained.
• Liaise with mine staff, safety and human resources staff and others.
• Ensure employees are adequately assessed and trained for their assigned work as well as updating training records.
• Continue to identify new ways to improve training and ways to implement them.
• Promote OHSA and Company policies and procedures.
• Maintain Integrated Management System (Document Control) consistent with AEM standards.
• Suggest & track policy updates, regulations, and safety standards issued annually by our Company.
• Follow up on safety-related recommendations.
• Comply with and evaluate training statistics.
• Communicate all safety policies and procedures to other departments for consistency and ensure they meet company standards and legislated requirements.
• Help investigate all incidents/accidents at the mill.
• Oversee quality control of completion of inspections and investigations.
• Act as a safety resource as required.
• Other duties as requested from time to time.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma.
• Tertiary Degree or equivalent.
• Train the Trainer certification.
• Work Experience: 10 years of operational experience.
• Certificates/Licenses: Valid Driver's License.
• Exceptional, proven interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Mobile equipment operator experience.

Your Work Schedule:

• Schedule: 5/2 or 4/3 schedule at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
