The Opportunity
Wolf Midstream is currently looking for a Supervisor, Rail Operations, to join our NGL Team. Reporting to the Manager, Separation. The Rail Supervisor will be based at the Wolf Feedstock Separation Facility in Sturgeon, County, Alberta. This senior-level position is well suited for a highly experienced professional with a demonstrated commitment to operational excellence, safety leadership, and rail logistics optimization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading the development and execution of rail operations, including team development / supervision, procedural implementation, and performance monitoring. The facility, currently under construction, is being designed with unit train capabilities to enable efficient product movement and support future operational scalability.
Key Responsibilities
The Supervisor, Rail Operations will lead and mentor rail staff assigned to the rail operating facilities. This position will work closely with the Operations, Maintenance, EH&S, Commercial Operations & Business Development teams to implement strategies that support all future NGL rail projects including upgrades and modifications to existing systems, and all newly constructed systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute on a Rail Operations staffing plan including recruiting, hiring, and training of the NGL Rail Operations staff to be prepared for the commissioning, startup and efficient ongoing operation of the new NGL Rail asset
- Promote and practice the Wolf’ Ways
- Ensure all health & safety policies and processes are followed and meeting overall objective which includes review of incident reports, inspections, hazard ID reporting, attending safety meetings and safety inspections
- Develop and implement, the Rail Safety Management Program
- Continuously improve the safety, efficiency, reliability and profitability of the overall rail operations
- Prioritize, delegates and manages requirements of all Rail Operations roles and duties
- Ensures competency and training programs are in place and continuously improved upon
- Completes competency testing of all rail operators as per the ail Operations Training Program
- Ensures Rail operating procedures are in place and in practice
- Coach and mentor direct reports in the development of goals, priorities, action plans, training and personal development
- Complete inspections and issue corrective work orders for all related rail equipment and infrastructure
- Work closely with the Wolf NGL leadership team in developing, monitoring, and reporting on system performance targets
- Ensure an appropriate level of emergency response preparedness through regular training, equipment management and ongoing communication with mutual aid and emergency services groups
- Participate in the design, construction, operability reviews and quality control of new rail facilities or modifications and evaluate/make recommendations on processing equipment and facilities
- Be a strong and contributing member of the communities in which Wolf operates
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Preference will be given to a technical diploma or a degree in a related discipline
- Industrial Railway Operating Rules (IROR) certificate and training for Dangerous Goods handling
- Other Rail disciplines will be considered an asset
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of Rail operations experience, with preference given to candidates with direct NGL rail experience
- Knowledge and experience of industry related safe work practices
- Experience in industrial rail yard and loading operations
- Must consistently strive for personal and operational improvement including the ability to upgrade required skills and competencies
- Results orientated with the ability to work without supervision and can manage many concurrent unrelated activities
- Industry related Safety training
