Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager, Housekeeping and Laundry, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the SUPERVISOR HOUSEKEEPING is responsible for coordinating the daily Housekeeping operations within an assigned area over 9 facilities, including the Main Hospital, Asper, McEwen, Albrechtsen Research, Nursing Education Building, 400 Tache, Energy Centre, Laundry, Day Hospital and K Block. This includes supervising, training, providing orientation, carrying out performance appraisals, and monitoring the work performed to ensure that the quality and quantity of work are in accordance with established standards; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Five (5) years of cleaning experience with at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Experience overseeing and taking part in change management initiatives.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Completion of courses or training in supervision, management or hospitality services required.
  • Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed recognized by the Hospital, may be considered in lieu of the above.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong commitment to a team environment and promoting excellence in customer service and continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to people from multicultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff to meet and exceed performance standards.
  • Ability to retain information on a confidential basis.
  • Capable of facilitating problem solving and conflict resolution undertakings with staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern housekeeping equipment and methods.
  • Ability to interpret financial reports, understand and manage budgets.
  • Must be able to handle highly stressed situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet and email applications required.

Physical Requirements

  • Physically capable of spending most of the shift traveling throughout the facilities.
