What will you be doing!

  • Ensuring the day-to-day safe operation, use, and maintenance of the Facility in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assessing work requirements or work control authorization documents, assigning work to trained and qualified staff, and overseeing activities by all staff that work within the licensed nuclear facility including staff outside their chain of command.
  • Supporting development and implementation of training for operating personnel.
  • Preparing operating manuals, procedures, and work plans.
  • Being technical support of the Facility.
  • Supervising the operating and support staff for operations and maintenance activities within the Facility.
  • Promoting a good safety culture and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Supervising and delegating work to a team (up to 25) of Junior Supervisor, Field Service Attendants, Drivers, Grader Operators, Hoisting Engineers, Millwrights, Radiological Protection staff and others.
  • Building and leading a highly motivated team by coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Acting as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC), managing the emergency response function within the facility.
  • Completing required training as defined in the Training Plan.
  • Leading Plan-of-Day Meetings with facility staff, ensuring Pre-Job Briefs and Post-Job Reviews for work in the facility are completed daily, and when required perform the duties of work control Authorizer for the facility. Authorizing and scheduling all work within the CWO facility via work control documents to meet customer commitments; liaising with customers and suppliers.
  • Developing an expertise in facility operations; providing operations input in support of continued safe and efficient facility operations.
  • Mentoring staff, providing guidance and training to ensure CWO Staff are compliant with their training plans.
  • Identifying day-to-day maintenance issues, initiating work requests, and liaising with planning and maintenance personnel to address maintenance issues.
  • Identifying and ensuring preventive and breakdown maintenance activities are assigned with minimal disruption to operations in the facility.
  • Documenting development and reviewing, including but not limited to, operating procedures, WIF, WEF, WMF Documentation, WAC, Waste Characterization memos.
  • Assisting in conducting interviews, goal setting, performing performance appraisals, career development, disciplinary and promotion actions for WMA staff.
  • Authorizing time sheets; arranging and approving personnel work schedules including personnel vacation and overtime.
  • Completing and tracking routine facility surveillance and equipment tests.
  • Conducting safety meetings and implementing actions.
  • Reviewing, revising and updating operational procedures.
  • Other operational and administrative duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Relevant technical college/university diploma, and 3-5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of skills, training and experience.
  • Experience
    • Operations experience will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to work in a team environment, maintain a clear focus on team goals, and establish good rapport with groups and individuals of many diverse professions is required.
    • Must have demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to delegate effectively. Must have the ability to work efficiently and effectively with customers, technical staff, colleagues and management.
    • Initiative to resolve problems and expedites resources, work plans or other appropriate actions.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing successfully completed projects.
    • Strong organizational, work planning.
    • Must be capable of planning multiple tasks effectively, including work prioritization and delegating authority to subordinates.
    • Ability to perform a variety of duties, changing tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
    • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills; the ability to disseminate information to other team members and clients and strong team problem-solving skills are essential.
    • Knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office Suite and standard CNL software is required.
    • Customer service driven with a collaborative based approach.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
