What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Director of Construction and in collaboration with the project management team, the holder of this versatile position combines the responsibilities of supervising construction sites with those of manufacturing and installing custom wood elements. They are responsible for planning and coordinating work, creating and installing high-quality woodworking pieces, while ensuring deadlines, quality standards, and health and safety protocols are met.
Responsibilities:
Site Supervision:
- Supervise and coordinate work on site, ensuring daily presence to oversee operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule construction activities in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Organize and lead daily construction meetings.
- Manage the delivery, receipt, storage, and handling of materials and equipment.
- Write daily reports and progress updates.
- Ensure health, safety, and cleanliness standards on the job site.
- Intervene, communicate, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers.
Woodworking and Carpentry:
- Study the designs of items to be made, calculate material needs, and mark dimensions on wood.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood pieces using specialized tools such as saws, routers, and mortisers.
- Manufacture and install custom furniture, cabinets, or other elements for interior design.
- Sand wood surfaces and apply finishes (lacquers, epoxy, varnishes, stains) for flawless results.
- Inspect completed projects to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
- Contribute to the design and construction of unique pieces that add aesthetic and functional value to spaces.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Secondary school diploma (DES) and a DEP in woodworking, carpentry, or a related trade.
- Minimum of 2 (two) years of experience in carpentry and/or woodworking or a related field, and at least seven (7) years of experience in commercial construction.
- Trade certification (journeyman) in a related field (an asset).
- "General Health and Safety on Construction Sites" training (an asset).
- Knowledge of PlanGrid or BIM 360 software (an asset).
- Ability to adhere to all health and safety protocols, procedures, and policies.
- Rigorous in tracking materials used and submitting reports to the accounting department.
- Ability to collaborate closely with all teams to ensure smooth and effective execution of work.
