Title: Summer Students - Summer Social Emotional Camp

Start Date: April 28, 2025

End Date: August 28, 2025

Position Type: Temporary

Position Open To: Students enrolled in a post-secondary education program for the 2024-2025 school year

Posting Overview:
Reporting to the System Coordinator of Student Support Services, Supervisor of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), and Superintendent of Education, this position will include a range of student support activities in the Summer Social Emotional Camp for students from FDK to Grade 2 and the School Survival Social Skills Camp for neurodiverse and neurotypical students Grade 3 to 10. These include:

  • Developing, supervising, and participating in school and camp-wide programming activities with campers and students of different ages;
  • Participating in training workshops;
  • Working co-operatively with other Camp Counsellors to ensure campers are safe;
  • Building relationships with ABA Specialists, Summer Camp Staff, other summer students, and all campers by showing compassion, empathy and understanding;
  • Working with neurodiverse students to focus on making positive peer connections, build organizational and planning skills, and engage in leisure activities;
  • Taking roll call at the beginning and end of every activity and on occasion, monitoring students during lunch hour;
  • Providing positive feedback for parents and other L.K.D.S.B. staff;
  • Other duties as assigned by the System Coordinator of Special Education, Supervisor of ABA, and Superintendent of Education.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary education program for the 2023-2024 school year;
  • Social Work, Recreation, and Education Programs preferred;
  • Previous experience is preferred.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

  • Access to reliable transportation as daily travel will be required throughout Sarnia-Lambton and/or Chatham-Kent;
  • Experience working with students at various age levels is an asset;
  • Ability to work as a team member with minimum supervision.

Position Effective Date & Length:
12 positions available.
April 28, 2025-August 28, 2026 (35 hours/week)
Compensation: $17.70 per hour
