About this opportunity

We are looking for engineering students who are currently in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of studies for a summer work term in various field locations in Alberta. Paramount believes that a strong understanding of field operations is an invaluable asset for engineering students who wish to have a successful career in the oil and gas industry. The summer student term will commence in May 2025 and last for a four-month period.

Potential field placements include: Grande Prairie or the Rocky Mountain House area.

The Engineering Summer Student program is part of Paramount’s overall New Graduate Recruitment program which includes both our Internship Program as well as our EIT New Graduate Rotational Program. Each student program is intended to funnel into the next level: Summer Student – Intern – EIT.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Learning valuable skills and gaining firsthand experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Acquiring a better understanding of field and operational procedures
  • Engineering project work to develop your technical background
  • Performing maintenance duties in an oil and gas setting
  • Operating oil and gas wells and facilities

Who you are:

  • You are currently enrolled in a Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical, Energy, Oil and Gas, Electrical, or Civil Engineering program.
  • You are someone with previous oil and gas experience (field experience considered an asset).
  • You are able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • You are someone who values feedback as a learning tool.
  • You are motivated, hard-working and determined to achieve superior results.
  • You are focused and have a keen attention to detail.
  • You have:
    • a strong safety mindset
    • strong obligation to accountability
    • strong computer skills including data analysis and MS Office skills
    • demonstrated effective decision-making skills
    • good communication and presentation skills

To be eligible for a Paramount Resources student position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You are currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution
  • You are available to work the full duration of the outlined work term
  • You are currently residing in, or willing to relocate to your assigned field location for the duration of your work term
  • You are legally entitled to work in Canada without restriction, by way of one of the following:
    • Canadian Citizenship
    • Permanent Residency
    • Valid work permit
