Job description

Position: Administrative Assistant Summer Student (on-site)
Contract Length: 8 weeks.
Pay: $18.50/hour
Working hours: Monday – Friday, 9am - 4pm

Responsibilities
  1. First point of contact to receive and respond to all phone and mail correspondences at the main office.
  2. Assist with small- and/or large-scale archival/filing projects by following a prescribed set of rules to store or destroy files.
  3. Maintain physical and digital personnel records.
  4. Update internal databases with personnel and people supported information.
  5. Conduct research, perform analysis, and input data.
  6. Prepare and organize correspondence, perform data entry and word processing functions, and create a variety of documents.
  7. Ensure office materials and supplies are maintained and complete orders as required.
  8. Assist with ad hoc projects as and when required.
Requirements and Skills
International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
  1. Student currently enrolled in Office Administration – Executive Co-op Program or equivalent.
  2. Proficient in computer software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Teams, SharePoint).
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, work well under pressure, ensure quality of work, take initiative, and follow established procedures and methods.
  4. Legally eligible to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  5. Between the ages of 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment.
  6. Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment.
  7. Meet all requirements set out under the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  9. An energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the vulnerable population.
  10. Valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  11. Must provide a complete and current (within three months) Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.
Bona Fide Requirements:
  1. The ability to engage in all aspects of Safe Management and valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
  2. Proof of COVID-19 Vaccinations through approved QR Code.
