Summer Slopes Saw Crew Lead Hand

Do you enjoy working outdoors in fresh mountain air? We are seeking a motivated and experienced Saw Crew Lead Hand to join our team for the summer. Are you good with people and handy with tools? As the Saw Crew Lead Hand, you will be working closely and supporting a small crew in several different locations and terrain in the controlled recreation area of Sun Peaks Resort. You will be responsible for daily task delegation, record keeping, equipment maintenance, team safety compliance, and various maintenance and landscaping tasks across the resort. You will also be a Sun Peaks Resort Initial Fire Attack Crew member. Bike parks, golf rounds and lake days await you on your days off. Compensation Information: $25.20 per hour

Physical Requirement: Heavy; Work activities involve handling loads more than 20kg; predominately outdoor work environment.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills You Bring With You:

• Experience working on summer trail crew at Sun Peaks or other similar profession with chainsaw experience.
• A team player, self-motivated, with proven leadership skills, and the ability to motivate others.
• Working knowledge of the Sun Peak’s physical plant and summer operations.
• Excellent time management and planning skills.
• Willing and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A hands-on supervisor who leads by example.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead and document the morning safety meeting and review equipment needs, vehicle assignments, special instructions, PPE requirements, mountain information updates, weather, concerns and successes, etc., setting daily completion goals.
• Monitor work being done to ensure that all WorkSafe regulations and SOG’s are followed daily and ensure that the crew is aware of safety concerns in and around the area they are working.
• Be current with S100 Fire Suppression Training and be part of Sun Peaks Initial Fire Attack Crew.
• Jobs may include but are not limited to; run maintenance, vegetation clearing, brushing, maintaining run-off structures, signage, and improvements, cattle control fence line right of way clearing, and general resort beautification, erosion control, hiking trail construction and maintenance, and ski run sign maintenance.
