Job description

The Autism Resource Centre, a community-based, non-profit organization in Regina, offers summer programs for Autistic children and youth. The day camp is both goal-oriented and lots of fun! Youth learn life skills and participate in recreational activities throughout the city. All participants are paired one-to-one with a staff member who assists with teaching and ensuring each participant has a safe and positive summer. In this position, you will gain valuable hands-on experience working with neurodiverse youth.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Interest in and/or knowledge of Autism
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adaptable and energetic personality to keep up with the campers and the schedule of events
  • Ability and willingness to swim; it is a regular part of the schedule, and all staff are expected to participate
  • Related experience in the field or working towards/completion of a university degree or college diploma in a related area.

DUTIES

  • Carry out the campers’ individualized program plans on a one-to-one basis
  • Support and participate alongside campers in the daily activities, as planned by directors
  • Complete daily communication notes and record goal data consistently
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings; implement strategies taught
  • Ensure safety by following the policies and procedures during all program activities; you must also adhere to the ARC confidentiality contract
  • Always maintain a high level of professionalism

TERMS

  1. Requires a consistent commitment to working from July 2 until August 21, 2025.
  2. The workday begins at 8:45 AM and ends at 3:15 PM.
  3. Employees must come 15 minutes early for a staff meeting at the start of each work week.
  4. Mandatory paid training will be held prior to camp starting (July 2-4).

2. The wage is $18/hr.

3. Based on current need, a vehicle is required for this position.

  • Third party liability insurance and submission of a driver’s abstract is required.
  • Staff will be reimbursed at a rate of $0.49/km for mileage.

4. A Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector search is required.

5. First Aid and CPR C Certification is recommended.
