Maintenance/Painter - Summer Opportunities

About Nithview Community:

Nithview Community is a seniors' community designed to provide several types of accommodation and services. Residents are able to choose the type of accommodation that is most appropriate for their care needs and continue to live within the community of care as their needs change. Emphasis is placed on assisting residents to live life to the fullest in this dynamic residential setting.

About the Position:

As part of the maintenance team, provide general building maintenance services to Tri-County Mennonite Homes (TCMH) and its divisions. Responsibilities include painting and collaborating with the maintenance team.

EXPERIENCE

• Previous general painting experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of general maintenance procedures and techniques;
  • Available to work weekends and holidays on a rotational basis (3-4 week rotation);
  • Basic knowledge of general repairs and painting;
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Ability to assess situations and make judgments regarding work to be completed.

Summer Opportunities generally start in May and end at the beginning of September. These jobs may be funded by the Government of Canada's Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) or Canada Summer Jobs. In order to be considered for the Canada Summer Jobs Program, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Be between 15-30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations.

*If you do not meet the above criteria, you can still apply as we may have opportunities available over and above the SWPP.

New employees will be required to complete a vulnerable sector check (or sign a declaration if under 18 years of age) and TB test as part of the onboarding process.
