Summer Club Camp Assistant (3-month contract)

For over 80 years, ROM Summer Club has been one of Toronto's most creative, exciting, and diverse summer day camps. Summer Club offers an exciting array of hands-on, experiential, and engaging groups inspired by the collections and research of our world-class museum.
WHO WE NEED
ROM’s Learning & Programs team is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Camp Assistants to help bring ROM Summer Club to life! For over 80 years, Summer Club has provided a fun, hands-on day camp experience for children inspired by ROM’s world-class collections in art, culture, and nature. Camp Assistants are essential team members who support instructors, help manage daily routines, and ensure campers enjoy a safe, enriching, and inclusive experience.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Support instructors by preparing materials, assisting with clean-up, and helping with the flow of camp activities.
- Conduct attendance, manage sign-in/out duties, and help track camper health information.
- Supervise children during breaks and lunch, ensuring safety and positive interactions.
- Help facilitate activities, games, and movement through the Museum and on field trips.
- Act as a friendly, respectful liaison with caregivers, updating them as needed on camper progress or concerns.
- Model respectful and inclusive behavior at all times and support campers with kindness and care.
- Assist with pre-care or extended care as required.
- Take initiative to support the overall success of daily camp operations.
WHAT YOU BRING- At least one (1) year of experience working with children in an educational or camp setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cooperatively within a team.
- Ability to manage minor conflicts with patience and professionalism.
- Must be at least 16 years of age by the start of the contract.
- Strong assets include:
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Coaching or lifeguard certification.
- Secondary education or coursework in a relevant field such as Art, Archaeology, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, History, or Education.
SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT- START DATE: June 1, 2025
- END DATE: August 29, 2025

- EMPLOYEE GROUP: Non-Union
- HOURLY RATE: $17.20
- SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly
- LOCATION (onsite): Toronto, ON
