Summer Camp Inclusion Coordinator

(Temporary Full-Time)

Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and sports, recreation and arts amenities. Our dedicated staff deliver services, operate facilities and run the programs that enhance the well-being of our community. The Summer Camp Inclusion Coordinator will develop and provide training and ongoing direction and coordination to our Summer Camp Staff, One-to-one Access Workers and Inclusion Volunteers, to assist them in developing skills to manage a variety of behaviours. The Inclusion Volunteers provide additional supports to summer camps that have children with disabilities or who may have trouble engaging with other campers for a variety of reasons: social, cultural, linguistic, etc. The coordinator also works with families/caregivers to implement existing support plans to promote consistency and most importantly to help everyone have fun and make friends at summer camp. The Summer Camp Inclusion Coordinator will be supervised by the Access and Volunteer Program Coordinators.

The following experience and education is considered an asset: experience working with children with disabilities; strong understanding of differing disabilities including developmental, intellectual, cognitive, behavioural and/or physical; experience working or volunteering in a recreational setting; experience working with and coordinating volunteers; Special Education Training or equivalent; ECE, B.Ed. Special Ed. Certificate, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, etc.

The successful candidate will possess a valid Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification or equivalent. A valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence with clean driving record and use of your own car to move between summer camps are considered assets, but are not required.

Successful applicants will be required to provide a current Police Information Check, a copy of your credentials and be available as follows:

  • Interviews will be scheduled in April 2025 (In person or virtually)
  • Mandatory Day Camp Staff Training occurs June 20 & 21 2025
  • Job duration is approximately June 2 – September 10 2025. Pre-camp meetings, site preparation and camp date coordination to occur before beginning of camps.

Position Status:
Temporary Full-Time

Please note: if Canada Summer Jobs funding for this position is approved, membership in the WVMEA will be mandatory.

Hours of Work:
37.5 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary).

Rate of Pay:
$34.07 per hour
