Job Description

As a Japanese Sub-Editor at SSENSE, you'll be at the heart of our online customer experience. Your mission? To bring our products to life through impactful and flawless descriptions. Working closely with our content team, you'll help create unforgettable shopping experiences for our global customers.

Your tasks:

  • Description Refinement: Sub-edit translated product descriptions ensuring adherence to style guidelines and brand consistency.
  • Rigorous Quality Control: Ensure content accuracy and quality by applying strict standards and identifying inconsistencies.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Quality Control Specialist to improve processes and resolve guideline and glossary-related issues. Provide constructive feedback to translators to help them improve their translations and better understand brand requirements. Collaborate with the Quality Control team to identify training needs and contribute to the development of training programs.
  • Team Development: Contribute to the team's evolution by suggesting process improvements and providing creative support.
  • Time Management: Adhere to deadlines and quality objectives by effectively managing time and priorities.

Qualifications

How To Excel In This Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Literature, Linguistics, Translation, Journalism or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in translation and sub-editing, ideally as part of a content team in a high-volume production environment for a Japanese-speaking market.
  • Mastery of Japanese grammar, spelling, and usage including ability to craft culturally-sensitive texts.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Japanese.
  • A strong proofreading and subbing background in fashion e-commerce an asset.
