Standard Hours Bi-Weekly: 75

End Date: March 31, 2026

Salary: Level 8 Step 1 ($3,666.75 bi-weekly)

Under the direction of the Education Manager, the Student Support Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the TH Student Support Team and will oversee all of the programs and services the team offers including academic and graduation pathways, student and family social emotional support, referrals and collaboration with outside organizations, stakeholders and governments, and crisis intervention supports. The incumbent will work closely with the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Wellness Department to promote a holistic approach to case management and youth supports to ensure First Nations Youth feel safe at home, at school and are connected to their families, communities, and culture. This position will play a key role in communication with Robert Service School staff including teachers and administration to support students, collect data and information, and to help guide holistic supports and pathways for students and assisting teachers with holistic planning and classroom programming around mental health and wellness. This position will attend cultural programming and camps as required. This position will have budgetary responsibility and will take part in overall department planning including work planning, financial planning and other administrative duties.

An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary degree in a field related to Human Services, Education, or Social Work. An equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience may be considered.
  2. Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating programs.
  3. Experience with grant writing and funding proposals.
  4. Strong supervisory and coaching skills and experience in leading teams in challenging environments and working with highly confidential case-loads.
  5. Experience and ability in providing advice, skills and tools relating to behavior and emotional management.
  6. Knowledge of residential schools and the intergenerational impact on individuals, families, children and communities which may include experiences with foster care, group homes, loss of culture, loss of family and family unit, family violence, problematic substance use, abuse by others, emotional abuse, self/harm/risky behaviour.
  7. Experience working with individuals who have neurodiversities such as FASD, ADHD, Autism spectrum disorder and other diversities.
  8. Strong knowledge and experience implementing trauma-informed practice and PTSD recovery knowledge.

Assets:

  1. Knowledge of community agencies and resources available to utilize in case management, planning, and referrals.
  2. Strong interviewing and case management skills.
  3. Demonstrated ability to prepare reports, proposals, and budget and funding agreement management.
  4. Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.

Conditions of Employment:

  1. Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  2. Class 5 Driver’s License with a clear driver’s abstract.
  3. Standard First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  4. Wilderness First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  5. TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
