The Student Services department’s role in student success is to create a culture and environment that unleashes the full potential of all the students at SAIT. Our primary goal is to support Student-First Culture, by focusing on student success and mobilizing all campus community members in this shared goal.
The Opportunity
Student Development and Counselling (SDC) is currently hiring students to be Outreach and Wellness Leaders (OWLs). You will participate in the delivery of positive mental health and wellness programs for students, through various campaigns and activities, providing a student perspective and voice.
As an OWL, you will have the opportunity to develop leadership, intercultural competency, communication, event planning, and organizational skills, while working in a diverse team. You will gain experience through training and professional development opportunities throughout the year. Additionally, you will enhance your understanding of positive mental health, holistic well-being, student success, and thriving at SAIT.
Successful applicants are expected to fulfill up to 5 hours per week before, between, and after classes, including lunch hour if needed for events. This involvement includes training and professional development workshops held each semester, as well as content creation and bi-weekly meetings. Shift schedules vary based on events and will be determined as much in advance as possible and based on the students’ academic schedule as provided in Outlook calendar. The student is responsible for maintaining an accurate Outlook calendar.
